LEIGH CREEK TO COPLEY WALKING / CYCLING TRAIL

The first stage of the Leigh Creek to Copley walking trail has been completed just in time for the school holiday visitors. The next stage once funding is secured will be to look at interpretive signage working once again with the Adnyamathanha Elders, Mobile Language Team and the school, using the fantastic Akurra Trail format as a guide. Progress is also keen to name this new trail so hope to hold a competition, working with the school to come up with both a name and design along the lines of the Kingfisher and Akurra Trail logo.

The LCCPA are working collaboratively with 3 other towns within the OCA Areas who have also been successful in securing funding for a Pump Track. This is part of the overall concept to encourage more active participation like cycling and walking in our region for both locals and visitors. Plans are for the Pump Track to be installed on the current Netball court site. Progress has started the project works in exploring a suitable design for the space and partnership opportunities with other agencies such as Complete Personnel.
